Post: Herefordshire Green Network Administrator Organisation: Herefordshire Green Network (HGN)

Final date for applications: 9am Thursday 1st April

Location: Home working, plus regular meetings (including some evenings), currently remotely, previously mostly in Hereford city

Salary: This self-employed position is paid at a rate of £120 per day, one day per week, initially for 3 months - with the view to extend to more days per week over the coming year, subject to pending funding applications.

About the role: HGN is an expanding network of more than 80 organisations in and around Herefordshire who are working to address the climate crisis. This role would put you in contact with our increasingly diverse and growing network, supporting and delivering HGN’s outreach and project work in the county and administering the systems that support our membership. The HGN Administrator will work alongside HGN’s part-time project Coordinator for ‘The Great Collaboration’, HGN’s volunteer Steering Group and wider HGN Membership in the realisation of HGN’s Aims and Mission. The HGN Administrator will be supported to recruit new Volunteer Administrator posts who will take on specific aspects of the administration workload. HGN also plan to advertise for a development and project manager over the coming months, who will further support the HGN Administrator role.

Job Description: Working closely with members of HGN, the Administrator will:

• Provide a point of contact for HGN members by email

• Write and coordinate regular newsletter posts about local, regional and national activities, resources & information https://hgnetwork.org/news/

• Overseeing the HGN automated Membership system (website applications, mail chip records and welcome email), updating membership details on the HGN website and updating the membership map

• Update the HGN events calendar & HGN website

• Organise, publicise and support HGN meetings, including taking minutes / providing a chair or facilitator when needed

• Administer HGN finance systems, including making payments, maintaining records, producing simple financial summaries and cashflow statements in liaison with the Honorary Treasurer

• (With support) recruit volunteer ‘Administration Support’ and liaise with them about the allocation of appropriate tasks

The role will also include:

• Support for the development of HGN ‘Gatherings’ (public facing workshops on topical issues)

• Support for the development of Members Workshops on topics that support the activity of local groups around the county

• Marketing and promotion via social media and Herefordshire’s press about events. issues and to promote the growth of the network

• Supporting other activity and projects developed by HGN and seeking opportunities to grow the network (time allowing)

 

The work involves:

Administration: Administering the systems that support the day to day running of HGN

Networking: Liaising widely with local groups, businesses and county organisations to draw them into the work of HGN

Event coordination: programming, developing, administering and hosting events

PR: Supporting and developing a publicity presence for HGN

IT: Maintaining and updating HGN’s on-line presence

Legalities: Working in accordance with the HGN constitution
