On 26th February 2021 hvoss hosted Herefordshire’s first ever Virtual Volunteer Fair!
Over 150 people watched the event which was streamed live to YouTube via Zoom. One by one, 36 voluntary groups introduced themselves and described the volunteer roles they are looking to fill. They had just 3 minutes each to provide an overview of their service and attract new volunteers.
The groups covered a diverse range of voluntary organisations across Herefordshire. The number of groups meant that the event had to be split in some way and the most logical was by location. The first section covered those groups who operated across the whole county. The second covered groups which operated in and around the city and the third covered groups within the market towns of Herefordshire.
The event was open to all Herefordshire residents looking to volunteer their time. Due to the length of the event, the timetable was sent to all participants beforehand, so they could either stay for the full event, or they could dip in and out of it to hear from the groups which were of most interest to them. Around half of the audience were new to volunteering.
The Fair was widely promoted to attract as many participants as possible from all diversities. It was advertised on our website, WISH, social media and even mentioned on local radio. It was also shared among community groups and emailed to those registered as either a group or volunteer with hvoss.
All the groups which took part are listed below and are all looking for volunteers NOW. An information booklet containing more details is available for you to view here.
