The Service

Community Wheels has built up a  reputation of providing an efficient, reliable and friendly service to a  large number of clients. For many, our scheme means the difference  between getting out and seeing friends, doing the shopping, visiting a  doctor or simply staying at home because there is no other choice. Community Wheels exists to tackle these issues.

There is a small charge made for using  our service. Fares are subsidised by our funders which include  Herefordshire Council, and are similar to the cost of using a bus.

To use the service, clients must  live within Central and North Herefordshire and have no alternative  means of transport. The service is particularly aimed at those who live  in remote areas. Trips are limited to within the county (although exceptions are made) and can be for any reason.

Where can I travel from?

Community Wheels serves the  rural area of Central and North Herefordshire and covers parishes  stretching from Leintwardine in the north to Fownhope in the south

If you live in the yellow shaded area of the map, Community Wheels can provide you with transport.

Where can I go to?

Well the answer to that is pretty much  up to you!  Community Wheels will take people without the means or ability to travel to anywhere within Herefordshire, for any reason.

About Community Transport

Community Wheels was  established over 21 years ago to meet the needs of transport users who  were unable to access public or private transport. The project serves  the Central and North Herefordshire and covers over 100 parishes  stretching from Leintwardine in the north to Fownhope in the south. The scheme was born out of the idea that no one should be isolated due to a  lack of transport and that the service would be available to all who qualify.

Based in Leominster, we  co-ordinate a team of over 85 dedicated drivers who simply wish to make  their community a better place to live.

After we take your call we contact the  nearest driver to your location where we pass on your details and ensure  your trip runs as smoothly as possible. All our drivers give their time  freely and thanks to our funders we are able to continue to offer this  important service. Naturally, we are always seeking additional funds to  help run the project and all donations are most welcome.
